New vOneCloud 1.8 for Easy and Quick Cloud Provisioning on VMware
Cambridge, MA, October 13rd, 2015. OpenNebula Systems, the company behind the OpenNebula Project, announced today the immediate availability of the 1.8 version of vOneCloud, the virtual appliance for vSphere that transforms an existing VMware vCenter deployment into an automated, self-service private cloud. VOneCloud 1.8 is based on OpenNebula 4.14 Great A’Tuin and adds additional features not available yet in any OpenNebula distribution.
This new release of the appliance, tailored to ease the provisioning of resources from vSphere based infrastructures, comes packed with exciting new features. vOneCloud 1.8 introduces management of VMs not launched by vOneCloud in either Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure and IBM SoftLayer, enabling easy import of existing workload running in these clouds. The new version supports vCenter guest customisation and multi-cluster VM template definition; bringing as well several improvements in VM monitoring, VM and resource naming.
The Control Panel has also been extended in this release to enable console access to the vOneCloud appliance and secure access to the Sunstone web interface. Additionally, a new documentation category starts with vOneCloud 1.8 to explain advanced customisations to the appliance, like vOneCloud rebranding to change the logos of the Sunstone interface.
The above features and components add to the already present ability to expose a multi-tenant cloud-like provisioning layer through the use of virtual data centers, self-service portal, or hybrid cloud computing to connect in-house vCenter infrastructures with public clouds. vOneCloud seamlessly integrates with running vCenter virtualised infrastructures, leveraging advanced features such as vMotion, HA or DRS scheduling provided by the VMware vSphere product family.
vOneCloud is free to download and use, and is very simple to install, with minimal configuration required, as well as non-intrusive, requiring no changes to the existing infrastructure management tools in the datacenter. OpenNebula Systems will run a booth at VMworld 2015 Europe in Barcelona on October 12-15 where they will demo the new version. vOneCloud is commercially supported by OpenNebula Systems.
